A RARE .41 (INTERNALLY CHARGED) LEVER-ACTION REPEATING PISTOL, MODEL 'VOLCANIC NAVY PISTOL', serial no. 1235,
for between 1855-57, with blued octagonal 8in. barrel with integral magazine tube below, applied nickel bead fore-sight, the top-flat signed 'THE VOLCANIC REPEATING ARMS CO PATENT NEW HAVEN CONN, FEB 14 1854' near the breech, slab-sided silver-plated brass receiver with standing notch rear-sight dove-tailed to the top-flat, the left side of action engraved 'F.T.B. FROM L.B.T.' within a banner, external central hammer, plain walnut flared grips (one repaired), iron colour-hardened looped finger-lever and brass magazine tube slider, the whole with strong traces of original finish
